Consumers prefer Nokia mobiles: Survey

Britannia is the most popular premium biscuit brand while Nokia is the mobile of choice for Indians and Rasna remains the best concentrated soft drink, says a consumer preferences survey.

Consumer World Awards 2004, given on the basis of the survey, honoured the most preferred brands of India as ‘’Mera Brand'’ at a function last evening.

In the FMCG section, while Britannia Industries Ltd won the award in the Premium Biscuit category, Rasna International Pvt Ltd won in the Concentrated Soft Drinks category. Tata Chemicals was the winner in the best Edible Salt award category.

In the Durables and Appliances section, Samsung India Electronics won awards in three categories — Air Conditioners, Frost Free Refrigerator and Oven/Microwave. MIRC Electronics Ltd was awarded in the Best Television company category for its brand ‘Onida’.

Indian Airlines Ltd was awarded as the best domestic airline in the Communication, Service Providers and Media section. Other winners included Nokia India Ltd (Mobile phones), Star India Pvt Ltd (Hindi Entertainment Channel), Benett Coleman & Company Ltd (English Main Line Newspaper) and Dainik Jagran (Hindi Main Line Newspaper) Zee News Ltd and Exchange 4 Media Group won special awards for the Best emerging Business Channel of the year and the Best Publishing company of the year respectively.

The awards were given away by Union Food Processing Minister Subodh Kant, Member of Parliament Sandeep Dikshit and Bharatanatyam dancer Sonal Mansingh.

The awards were announced by AMGF International in association with TNS India and Ernst & Young.
